Hotel Crescent Court Engagement | Lacey and Charlie

Weddings

April 16, 2024

Lacey and Charlie’s engagement session at Hotel Crescent Court was nothing short of magical…well except for that one time when we were interrupted in the courtyard! 😉 But even with our little road block, we had the absolute best time moving from one picturesque location to another, their chemistry was undeniable, making my job as a photographer an absolute joy. They were so easy to talk to and are just the sweetest most genuine people.

As the golden hour approached, we made our way to Flippen Park. In those last few moments of daylight, it was clear that Lacey and Charlie were meant to be. With their wedding set to take place next year at the gorgeous Gardenia Venue, I am so excited for the opportunity to document their journey from engagement to marriage. Cheers to love, laughter, and happily ever after for these two beautiful souls!

Enjoy some of my favorites from Lacey and Charlie’s engagement session at Hotel Crescent Court.

More about the Couple

How did you two meet?

We met in the fall of 2020 while studying at Texas A&M through some mutual friends (Ashley, one of my best friends, and Creg, Charlie’s college roommate, who met each other in class and both of whom are in our wedding party). We all met each other at Los Cucos Mexican Cafe in College Station for dinner and all became friends after that. Several months later, we were all back at the same restaurant and Charlie had a little extra liquid courage that night. This helped him finally work up the nerve to talk to me as more than friends, and the rest was history.

What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?

Sense of humor is definitely what attracted us to each other the most at first. We were both able to make each other laugh, joke around, and have a fun time with one another while fully being ourselves. That connection laid the foundation for us to get to know each other further after that and still keeps us having fun almost three years later.

Tell us your engagement story!

Ashley, one of the friends who originally introduced us, texted me one day asking if I wanted to go take some pictures with her on April 21, 2023, and I instantly knew what that meant. I know Charlie had hoped that he’d be able to pull a surprise over on me, but I really loved being able to feel the same excitement and nerves leading up to that day as he experienced while not knowing what was going to happen that day. That afternoon, Ashley and her fiancé Wyatt drove me to a spot on Grapevine Lake and told me that was as far as they went. I walked down a path sprinkled with rose petals to find Charlie standing there, teary-eyes, and waiting for me. He gave a beautiful speech, got down on one knee, and I say “yes” (at least I think I did…I think I blacked out a bit). After that, we took some pictures with the photographer he had there and met both of our families at an Italian Restaurant in Addison for dinner. Once we wrapped that up, he drove us back to our house and all of our friends, including so many that made the drive from out of town, surprised us with a party. The day was everything I had ever hoped for and more.

What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?

As cheesy at it may sound, we’re most excited about spending the day celebrating with the people closest to us, that we love most, and have made the greatest impact on us. Having the opportunity to have all your favorite people in one place, sharing details with them about our love story, and having them there to witness us starting this next chapter is such a unique experience and we can’t wait.

Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?

Enjoy this time and don’t rush! You’re only engaged once, and taking pauses and intentional moments to enjoy this chapter of life instead of just rushing to get to the next one has been incredibly important for us. We really feel like this has prevented us from getting stressed in the planning process thus far.

How was your overall session experience?

We had such a fun experience with Kimberly! She was incredibly professional and pivoted flawlessly when some obstacles were thrown her way. But most importantly, she was fun, put us at ease, and gave the perfect amount of direction to ensure that she was capturing the best possible moments. We both said afterwards that we really enjoyed spending that time with her, which isn’t always the case when smiling and posing for two hours. We can’t wait to have her capture our wedding day.

Share something interesting about your significant other!

Charlie has moved 7 times in his life! He was born in Wayzata, MN and then moved to Pittsburg, PA, Southlake, TX, Memphis, TN, Wayzata, MN (again), Southlake, TX (again), College Station, TX, and now Lewisville, TX. I, on the other hand, have only moved cities once. I grew up in College Station and moved to Lewisville after graduating from A&M.
