Dallas Wedding Photographer | Stunning Engagement at The Olana
Tristen and Carlos’ stunning engagement at The Olana is on the blog and I could not be more excited! As much as I love destination weddings and engagements, it’s possible to have the feel of an adventure session right in your own backyard. The Olana is a French inspired wedding venue located in Hickory Creek, Texas and is only 5 minutes from my house.
Although Tristen and Carlos’ engagement session was classic, romantic and timeless…the real magic of this session was their love for each other. You can tell that they are best friends and the way they look at each other gives me all the heart-eyes.
They are getting married next May and I am so darn excited. Tristen and Carlos, thank you for choosing me to capture your day. You guys are awesome and I can’t wait to celebrate you! Here are some of my favorites from their stunning engagement session at The Olana. Enjoy!
How did you two meet?
Carlos and I met at a local bar in Fort Worth, TX. We spotted each other from our separate tables across the room. He invited me over to chat and the rest is history.
What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?
For Carlos, it was his big brown eyes, fun loving personality, and selflessness. I’ve never met someone who will work endlessly to make sure those he cares about are happy.
For Tristen, it was her hazel eyes with beautiful smile and goofy personality. She will also will defend the people that she loves and adores without a doubt.
Tell us your engagement story!
Carlos and I had gone on vacation to Cancun in April. We spent the trip engaging in lots of fun activities in different parts of Mexico. On our very last day on vacation we took the ferry to Isla Mujeres. We rented a golf cart and spent the day exploring the island. It was about time for us to head back to the hotel but Carlos took a quick detour before catching the ferry. On our way back we stopped by the beach. Carlos led me down a small cliff to a more private section of the beach, got down on one knee, and proposed. It was such an intimate moment between just the two of us.
What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?
Getting married and having our family and friends from all over the world come together to celebrate with us in one place
Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?
Take a moment to enjoy your engagement! I started planning right away and wish I would have waited a bit to really soak in all the joy of our engagement. Don’t stress the little things as well. The time between your engagement and wedding is meant to be a happy one. Everything will fall into place and be beautiful.
How was your overall session experience?
Our engagement session with Kimberly was beyond great! We were nervous going into the session because we aren’t quiet used to getting our pictures taken. With Kimberly all our worries faded away. Kimberly made us feel completely comfortable posing and being in front of the camera. She made taking pictures easy, fun, and made us feel so confident!
Share something interesting about your significant other
Carlos comes off serious and reserved most of the time but he actually is the goofiest person I have ever met. Theres nobody who makes me laugh harder. I love that I get to see a side of him not everybody else does.
I thought Tristen was shy at first but she’s actually as goofy as me, if not goofier. I’m always laughing and smiling around her because she really is something else. Im glad she said yes !!
