Are you wondering if you should schedule a bridal session? I have a few questions you should ask yourself to see if it is right for you! Before we begin though, let’s discuss what a bridal session really is.

What is a Bridal Session?

First let’s talk about what a bridal session is. It is traditionally when the bride gets dressed head to toe in her wedding attire. Usually, the bride schedules her bridal session on the same day as her Hair and makeup trial.

I always suggest that the bride also bring a bouquet as well. Not only does it give you a complete glimpse at what your look will be on the wedding day, but the flowers also give you something to do with your hands!

Questions you should ask yourself before you schedule a bridal session

Do you really love your dress? Is it something that is really unique or have details you would like photographed?

If yes, book a bridal session. Weddings are so fast paced, so I don’t always have time to get up close and personal with dresses. Bridals give me the opportunity to get more creative in the way I can capture your dress!

Are you uncomfortable in front of the camera, especially if you are by yourself?

If yes, then maybe don’t book a bridal session. I do help with posing but I get that being the only one in front of the camera can be daunting.

Do you want to take every opportunity you can to wear your dress?

If yes, book a bridal session. It is so much fun to get dressed up and have pretty portraits of you in your wedding gown. I promise you’ll feel like a million dollars!

Do you want to take your bridal portraits somewhere other than your wedding location?

If yes, book a bridal session. I’ve had brides choose some really cool places to have their bridals that wasn’t necessarily their venue. Horse Ranch? Vineyard? Studio? With bridals, you get to have more control of the look and feel you want them to have.

Are you willing to have your hair + makeup professionally done and have a bouquet created for the bridal portraits?

If no, I recommend that you don’t book a bridal session. You want your bridal portraits to resemble the final look on your wedding day. The bouquet is also really helpful when posing a single person and adds a soft, feminine touch to the pictures.
