Love stories are like the beating heart of life’s grand narrative, and every chapter is filled with unique moments that make our hearts skip a beat. Ali and Mitchell’s engagement at The Joule, is one such enchanting chapter. They are set to tie the knot next spring at the very same venue where their love story began.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Dallas, The Joule is a masterpiece of architecture and design, a perfect blend of historic charm and modern luxury. Its iconic pool, suspended over the bustling street below, and the dramatic lobby art installations provide a captivating backdrop for couples session.

We eagerly await their wedding next spring, where The Joule will once again play host to their love story’s next chapter. Stay tuned for more updates from this enchanting couple as they embark on their journey together as husband and wife. Enjoy some of my favorites from their engagement session at The Joule.

About the Couple

How did you two meet?

We met the summer before our senior year of college through a mutual friend. Mitchell was staying in Dallas for summer break from SMU and I returned to my hometown, Dallas, during my summer break from the University of Oklahoma. We were at a 4th of July party and laughed the whole day away. I remember Mitchell taking me into the hot dog eating contest and just giggling the entire time.

What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?

I was immediately attracted to Mitchell’s humor and how easily he could make me laugh. He can always pull me out of a bad day and we just have so much fun!

Tell us your engagement story!

Mitchell had told me that we were going to go to Hero, by the American Airlines Center, to meet up with some friends for lunch, but first he needed my help to run some errands. After our morning full of errands We headed over to Hero. It was a nice day and it wasn’t far so we decided to take a short walk. When we got to the center of the plaza outside of the American Airlines Center he stopped me and talked about our past 6 years together, about how many memories were created here while I cheered for the Dallas Stars Hockey team as an Ice Girl, and about how many memories we have left to create. He dropped on one knee and proposed right there! I obviously said yes and then found out that he had snuck in a friend who was a photographer to catch the moment and had also rented out a room at Hero where friends had decorated the space and had hidden to surprise me! I love that he completely fooled me and had our closest friends to celebrate with us immediately after.

What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?

I am very excited to be surrounded by our closest family and friends to celebrate this next chapter in our lives! But the biggest thing I’m excited for is the moment of calmness right after the ceremony where we get to soak in the moment that we are starting the next chapter of our lives together!!

Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?

Whenever times get stressful, just remind yourself the love you have for your partner and that your day is to celebrate y’all’s love!!

How was your overall session experience?

Our session was great!! Kimberly is so personable and can make anyone feel comfortable! She is also very great at posing couples to make sure you look and feel your best!

Share something interesting about your significant other!

Mitchell grew up as a gymnast and may even still throw a back tuck, especially if he is double dog dared!! (Watch out, Mitch!!! I feel a double dog dare coming on 🙂 )
