Ashlee and Matt’s Engagement at Murrell Park

Engagement Session

November 22, 2020

Ashlee and Matt’s Engagement at Murrell Park is now on the blog! It took me a hot minute to get these guys up here due to back-to-back weddings this weekend. I promise though, it is worth the wait! These guys give me all the heart-eyes!

When I first got the inquiry from Ashlee about her wedding at Davis and Grey Farms, She mentioned how much she also loves Hamilton the musical and that we both love Taco Tuesdays! <—- I knew I was going to like this girl!

Ashlee and Matt are the sweetest, most genuine people. I really enjoyed getting to spend an evening taking pretty pictures and getting to know them and their two fur babies.

Here are some of my favorites from Ashlee and Matt’s Engagement at Murrell Park!

More about the Ashlee and Matt

How did you two meet?

It all started March 2016. Intramural softball season was coming up, so I met up with some of my friends at our intramural fields at UNT to get some practice in. Shortly after we arrived, a group of guys came up to practice on the other field, and they eventually joined us. We both grew up playing baseball and softball, so we were very much in our element. Matt and I would occasionally message over the next few weeks talking about our intramural games, sports, and pictures of his dog. A few weeks later we went on our first date to a Dallas Stars playoff game, then back up to Denton to grab some food on the square.

What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?

Ashlee: He would tell you it was him sliding into third at an intramural game that got me hooked on him, but let’s be real, it was him catching my subtweet about wanting Blue Bell ice cream and bringing it to me! Our mutual love for sports gave us an instant connection too.

Matt: Getting to see her in her element playing softball and her love for sports of course!

Tell us your engagement story!

At the beginning of this summer, Matt’s parents had brought up the idea of getting out of town for a weekend. We ended up renting a house and going out to Granbury for the weekend, where we met up with his parents and his brother.

There were little hints here and there that I had put together before and leading up to it that made me think he was going to propose, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Before we left, Matt mentioned his mom wanted to take pictures this weekend and to bring something for pictures (hint #1).

We left for the weekend and got in that Thursday night. The guys went and played golf Friday morning while the girls stayed at the house and laid around the pool all day!

Later that night, Matt and his mom went to go pick up dinner and scout places for pictures. I asked if they wanted me to come along and Matt came back with a very resounding no (hint #2).

Saturday afternoon, we head to this cute little park near Downtown Granbury and start taking pictures. We get to this spot near a small pond with a fountain when I hear Matt say something along the lines of “hold on, there’s one more picture I want to get.” After that he gets down on one knee and everything else is a blur! The next thing I remember is him putting the ring on my finger, then hearing a big “FINALLY” from behind us. Little did I know, my family was hiding behind 2-foot-tall bushes the whole time.

After getting a few more pictures, we all went back to the house to celebrate with margaritas and tacos. It was such a perfect day, and we are beyond grateful both of our families were there for it!

What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?

We am so excited to start our lives together, and spend the day celebrating with our closest friends and family!

Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?

Find vendors you feel a connection with and treat you like family, not just another couple. It is a fun, but stressful process; get as much done as early as you can, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and most importantly, enjoy every moment!

How was your overall session experience?

We had the BEST time at our engagement session! We both are usually awkward in front of the camera, but Kimberly made us feel so comfortable and natural. She knew exactly what to do and her energy was the best! She was patient with our dogs, one who is super calm and the other full of energy, but it meant so much to us to have them included. We cannot wait for her to capture our wedding day!

Share something interesting about your significant other!

Ashlee: Matt can hear a song and instantly tell me which version of Madden, NCAA Football, or MLB The Show it is on!

Matt: She most likely holds the record for number of times having watched Hamilton. (Ashlee…I think you need to be my new best friend! )
