North Texas Wedding Photographer | A Spring Engagement at Arbor Hills | Sarah and Dakota
Meeting with Sarah and Dakota for their Spring Engagement at Arbor hills was truly the highlight of my day. I love having the opportunity to meet with couples before their wedding day! It gives us a great opportunity to get to know one another while at the same time capturing gorgeous images that showcase the love they share for each other.
These two will be getting married this summer at Stillwater Meadow in Aledo, TX. Just based on their engagement session – I can’t wait for all the gorgeous photos we will get on their wedding day!
Please enjoy some of my favorite images from their Spring engagement at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve.
More About The Couple
How did you two meet?
Dakota and I met at a conference for our church movement in Texas. I live in Boston, so I flew down to Texas for the conference and Dakota was one of the first people I met there. We were in all the same breakout sessions, and he eventually asked me out for coffee.
What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?
Sarah first noticed Dakota’s boldness, sense of adventure, and how much he liked to have fun.
Dakota was drawn to Sarah because of the fact that she was quiet, reserved, and very clearly thought about everything that she said.
Tell us your engagement story!
We had talked about our future and the possibility of getting engaged, but Dakota and I both love surprises and adventures, so he was doing his best to keep the timing a mystery. Then, in February he came up to Boston for 5 days, and the day before he arrived I asked him if he wanted to go hiking at a state park I really wanted to check out outside of the city. He told me that sounded fun, but he wanted to check out the Harvard business area. I was confused because this isn’t a common term for people in the Boston area, but I told him I was up for that.
He responded by saying “actually let’s just go check out the state park.” So we went to the state park and started exploring. We decided to take some photos. Then unbeknownst to me he set his phone to record and dropped to one knee, told me all these sweet things he had written out beforehand, and proposed. It was super sweet and such a surprise because it was my idea to go to the state park, and it was so us because it was an intimate proposal in nature.
What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?
I am so excited for the moment we get officially married and then get to walk back down the aisle completely elated. I also am excited to get to celebrate with our closest friends and family.
Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?
My best advice would be to focus on one thing at a time. It is easy to get overwhelmed in the wedding process, so take it one step at a time. Also, getting advice from our recently married friends has been super helpful for us as we figure out exactly what we want our wedding to look like.
Share something interesting about your significant other!
Dakota is extremely good at pool and loves to dance, so he’s going to be really fun at our wedding!
Sarah used to think that her ideal honeymoon was camping.
