Have you ever met a couple so sweet you can’t help but smile the entire time you’re around them? That’s exactly how I felt during Andie and Lucas’s engagement session at Arlington Hall! Even though the weather wasn’t exactly giving us sunshine and rainbows (hello, January drizzle and chilly vibes), these two were absolute troopers. Let me tell you, nothing could dampen their joy—not even a little drizzle!
We met up at Arlington Hall, a classic and timeless location that just oozes elegance. I always get excited when couples choose this spot because there’s something magical about its grand columns and lush grounds. Even on an overcast day, Arlington Hall provided a gorgeous backdrop for Andie and Lucas’s love story.
You know how some couples just fit together like puzzle pieces? That’s them. Andie has this bright, contagious smile that lights up her whole face, and Lucas couldn’t stop looking at her with those heart-melting eyes. Seriously, I caught myself saying, “Awwww!” behind the camera more times than I’d care to admit.

More About the Couple
How did you two meet?
We met playing indoor volleyball in the Dallas area! We coincidentally lived on the same street and began carpooling together to our weekly volleyball matches. After being close friends for one year, Lucas finally made a move, and here we are!
What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?
I was first attracted to Lucas’ sense of humor. He’s always been capable of making me laugh, which is one of my favorite qualities about him! We have the best time simply enjoying one another’s company and being silly. We met through volleyball and very soon became the mom and dad of our local community. It was clear Andie is intelligent, great with children, and full of joy. I always thought she was out of my league. It wasn’t until she came with me to a concert and then several bars that I realized she was someone who could go the distance with me.
Tell us your engagement story!
Andie had an idea of when to expect the engagement, but Lucas successfully pulled off the surprise of it! We went out one weekday for a special dinner to celebrate Lucas’ new job. On the walk from dinner to the car, Lucas dropped to his knee and proposed! It was in a beautiful park area with lit trees, where we typically went once a week! Our Matron of Honor hid to record the whole thing, including the moment Lucas accidentally opened the ring box upside down (hahaha). Afterwards, we celebrated at another restaurant with a group of our friends!
What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?
We are most excited to build our lives together as a married couple! We’re also looking forward to seeing the outcome of all of our planning and to celebrate with our family and friends!
They’ll be getting married at The Laiken at Lake Travis in the Texas Hill Country.
Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?
Start planning and booking as soon as you can! We were able to knock a ton of wedding tasks off shortly after our engagement, before the stress of deadlines kicked in. It’s allowed us to really enjoy being engaged and preparing for the wedding!
How was your overall session experience?
Our session was great!!! Kimberly is the BEST! We originally found her online and immediately loved her work. She is the most committed photographer–embracing the cold and sprinkles with us in January! Kimberly did an excellent job of posing us (we’re awkward and definitely needed the advice lol) and taking a large variety of shots. We are absolutely in LOVE with the sneak peeks she shared with us the following day, and we cannot wait to see the rest of the photos! Thank you again, Kimberly!
Share something interesting about your significant other!
We absolutely love traveling! Andie has been to over thirty countries, and Lucas has visited his fair share too. This past August, we went to five countries in Europe together! This included experiencing multiple volleyball matches at the Paris Olympics –definitely one of the neatest trips we’ve ever taken! We’re excited for our honeymoon, as well as all the future adventure in our lives to come.
