Highland Park Wedding Photographer | Turtle Creek Engagement Session

Katie and Drew had their Turtle Creek Engagement Session and it did not disappoint. They looked like they walked right out of my style guide and they had the best personalities. I just loved how vocal Drew was about how much he loved Katie. Obviously, I work with a lot of couples who are in love but it was nice to hear him dote on her.

They will be getting married next year at Firefly gardens and I am so excited! I know it is going to be such a beautiful day!

Enjoy some of my favorites from Katie and Drew’s Turtle Creek engagement session!

More About the Couple

How did you two meet?

We met at the University of Tulsa in 2016 at a sorority and fraternity dinner. Drew pulled out the chair for Katie and she accidentally walked past it- good thing it all worked out.

What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?

Katie: Super tall & handsome and we would have tall, athletic children God-willing. In all seriousness, Drew was so kind to everyone, easy to talk to, and genuine from day one.

Drew: Katie was easily the most beautiful girl I had ever met. She was sweet, down to earth, and so smart.

Tell us your engagement story!

We got engaged the day after Thanksgiving in 2021. Drew asked me to go on a date the night before I left for Boston until Christmas. We went to Brenner’s in Houston for dinner and Drew walked me to the gazebo outside and popped the question. I was so surprised because I was not expecting an engagement until we were able to live in the same city. It was such a special night with our family and friends!

Fun Fact: Brenner’s is also where Simone Biles was engaged 2 months later!

What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?

We are so excited to celebrate our love with our family and friends. We can’t wait to have our favorite food in Dallas and dance the night away. Drew is also very excited to finally have a ring of his own 🙂

Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?

Start the planning process as early as you can so you can enjoy the big and little moments with less stress. Your wedding day is one day but there are so many fun activities leading up to the big day. Make your engagement photo night a date night or have your friends over to taste your cocktails. We have had the most fun enjoying quality time with each other and our people.

How was your overall session experience?

SO.MUCH.FUN. The session felt very natural, even though we are not the best at taking pictures. We laughed, made jokes, and got to spend time with each other that just happened to be captured on camera.

Share something interesting about your significant other!

Drew can quote every single line of friends. The second the TV turns on he knows what episode it is and probably the next line.

Katie skipped eighth grade so she is a whole year younger than me. I didn’t find out until our first birthdays together and I thought she was 15 days older than me. Turns out she’s 350 days younger!
