Romantic Highland Park Engagement Session | Dallas Wedding Photographer
This session was just as sweet as it looks.
I spent the evening with Katie and Steven during their romantic Highland Park engagement session. These two…where do I even begin? They might be the sweetest people I have ever met! Their kindness, their compassion, their sense of humor…they light up any room they walk into.
To say I had fun on this session would be an understatement. It was like hanging out with old friends-not meeting for the first time. I really enjoyed getting to know them and their adorable Golden Doodle, Lucky.
They will be getting married next year at Stone Crest Venue in Mckinney, Texas. I cannot believe I’m going to have to wait almost another year to see them. š Guys…we might have to meet up for a check-in (I’m thinking tacos).
I’m so thankful to be a part of their wedding day. It is always such an honor to document the beginning of a new chapter and to build friendships along the way.
Please enjoy some of my favorites from their romantic Highland Park engagement session.
More About The Couple
How did you two meet?
We met on a blind date in college! One of my sorority sisters had me take one of her boyfriends fraternity brothers (Steven) to a function. We were friends for about a year after that. But then it turned into a relationship – looking back, iād keep it that way too, I like that we took our time getting to know one another. And we also allowed each other the space we needed early in our college careers to grow. Our friends who set us up actually get married this September and we get to be a part of their big day! Woo pig sooie!
What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?
Steven: her confidence and personality. In college, everyone knew who Katie Curry was and everyone loved her.
Katie: his kindness. He did little things that made my head turn & I quickly learned how kind he was, even when no one was looking.
Tell us your engagement story!
Steven told me we were going to have dinner with his dad and stepmom (a very normal affair) but that we would take Lucky for a walk by a park near their house before we went (also very normal). I dressed for the walk, knowing I could change for dinner afterā¦.well turns out he was planning to propose.
He took me to an overlook, looked at me, got down on one knee and said āso do you want to marry me?ā I, shocked, laughed and said āuhhh are you serious?ā He quickly stood up and said ānopeā and laughed. I was so confused. He then grabbed me and walked me out a little more when I saw him go back down to his knee and get serious. He said a whole bunch of other things, that I now donāt remember(shock factor), and we were engaged!
His sisters were there to capture the moment and the best surprise of all is that both our families were waiting for us in the parking lot. I bawledā¦..and then we went back to his parent’s house where all our friends and extended family were waiting. The next day the hogs beat A&M – I couldnāt have asked for a better engagement.
What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?
Seeing Steven for the first time. And both of our favorite groups of people all being in one place for the weekend. I have chills thinking about those two things!
Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?
Take your time! If youāre like me and hadnāt put much thought into your wedding day prior to your engagement, allow yourself the time to figure out your vision. If you donāt have any hard and set dates, you can make that vision clear and have the pick of the liter when it comes to choosing your vendors! We will have a 1.5 year engagement and by spreading it all out, I think itās been awesome!
How was your overall session experience?
AMAZING! I canāt speak enough good things about Kimberly. She told us exactly what to do and even showed us how we were looking along the way. Iām sad our wedding is so far away, just because I want to be able to see her sooner!!! Canāt thank her enough.
Iām Katieās mom and I absolutely love these photosā¤ļø Katie has spoken so highly of you Kimberly and is even border line obsessed with your social media, as am I.
