If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a wedding photographer, it’s to always be ready to embrace the unexpected. And McKenna and Ty’s engagement session the day after Christmas was the perfect reminder of that. With storms in the forecast—not just any storms, but flash flooding—we had to make a game-time decision to change locations. Our original plan was washed away (pun intended), but we pivoted to a covered archway in Frisco to stay safe from the rain.

But as luck—or maybe a Christmas miracle—would have it, the rain cleared up right as we arrived. The clouds parted, leaving us with a dreamy, soft light that turned this session into something truly magical. What a blessing to have the weather work in our favor after such a stormy forecast! McKenna and Ty brought the sunshine themselves with their sweet smiles and undeniable chemistry, making the day even more special.

These two were an absolute dream to photograph. McKenna’s warmth and Ty’s easygoing nature made the session feel like a walk in the park—or should I say, a stroll under the arches? They laughed, twirled, and shared moments that made my job as their photographer a breeze. Seeing their love in action was enough to warm anyone up on what could have been a chilly, rainy day.

What I love most about McKenna and Ty is how they roll with the punches and make the best out of any situation. That quality will no doubt serve them well in marriage. After our session wrapped, they were off to South Texas for a bachelor party and girls’ night before Ty heads back to Louisiana. Talk about squeezing every ounce of fun out of the holiday season!

These two are tying the knot next Fall at Aristide McKinney, and I already know their wedding is going to be just as special as they are. I can’t wait to capture their big day and all the love and joy it’s sure to bring. McKenna and Ty, thank you for letting me be part of your story.
