The Wedding Day
“The clouds pulled back, the sun came out, and it was absolutely perfect.”
All week long, the forecast had been threatening. Gray skies, scattered chances of rain, the kind of weather that makes a wedding photographer quietly rehearse what they’ll say when the couple asks about backup plans. But Paige and Cody? They had nothing to worry about. By the time the morning of their wedding arrived, the clouds made way for a gorgeous, golden day at the Chapel at Palacios — and everything that followed was absolutely magic.
For the entire week leading up to their wedding, rain was in the forecast. But when their wedding day finally arrived, they were gifted with the most beautiful weather imaginable. The skies cleared, the sun peeked through, and the stunning waterfront views at Chapel at Palacios were on full display.
The day began with Paige getting ready alongside her favorite people. Paige shared a fun and heartfelt reveal with her bridesmaids, whose reactions were absolutely priceless. She has the best hype squad!
Then it was time. Paige and Cody did their own private first look — just the two of them, away from the crowd, sharing a quiet moment before the world got to celebrate with them. They exchanged personal vows in private, and I can tell you from where I was standing: it was deeply moving. These are the moments that remind you a wedding is, above all else, about two people choosing each other.
Now, I have to talk about Cody for a moment. Standing at a remarkable 6’9″, he is quite possibly the tallest groom I have ever had the pleasure of photographing.
Let’s just say finding the right angle to capture them together was a delightful creative challenge — and one I absolutely loved. He wore it well. Every single inch.
The Ceremony
Their ceremony took place inside the beautiful Chapel at Palacios, where floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the water and create one of the most breathtaking ceremony backdrops in Texas–even though it doesn’t feel like Texas at all! Surrounded by family and friends, Paige and Cody exchanged vows and officially became husband and wife.
Terrace Cocktail Hour
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers on the venue’s terrace while taking in the gorgeous waterfront views. Paige and Cody had an old telephone set up for guests to leave messages for them to listen to later. I absolutely love this idea! Hearing the voices of your loved ones is going to hit different one day. Trust me. The relaxed atmosphere made for the perfect transition into the evening’s festivities.
The Reception
Once the reception began, the celebration was in full swing. One of the highlights of the evening was Cody’s dance with his mom. It was the perfect combination of heartfelt and playful, leaving guests smiling and laughing throughout the entire song. Paige shared a touching dance with her stepdad that had everyone feeling the emotion of the moment.
As the party continued, Paige surprised everyone by changing into a fun mini reception dress, ready to hit the dance floor and celebrate the night away. From that point on, the dance floor stayed packed as friends and family made the most of every minute together.
