I had such a blast at Jessica and Austin’s Mitas Hill Vineyard Engagement. Based on our first conversation, I knew that I was going to have a blast with them…they are funny, kind and easy to talk to….not to mention absolutely gorgeous. Jessica told me that they were going to need a lot of direction for posing but she and Austin could have fooled me!
How did you meet?
Austin and I met in high school! We grew up in the same town our whole lives, but connected our senior year.
What was it about your significant other that first attracted you?
His sense of humor! Austin lights up a room with his personality, and it’s impossible to keep a straight face around him.
Tell us your engagement story!
We go to my family’s lake house for the 4th of July every year, so it wasn’t unusual when Austin suggested we go there for the 4th this year, too. Little did I know, Austin had been planning for months to make this one of the most special days of our lives. While my mom, sisters and I went into town to pick up some fireworks, Austin and my family (dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins) were back at the lake setting up the perfect proposal scene. Austin built a gazebo that he strung with hundreds of lights and placed flowers all around. When we returned to the house, my dad escorted me down to the water, where I saw Austin standing under the gazebo. He popped the question, and I sobbed a big “YES!”. When we turned around, I noticed that Austin arranged for both of our families to be there to enjoy the moment with us and they were all sitting behind the tree watching!
What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle to my soon-to-be husband! It will be a moment we cherish forever.
Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?
Tread lightly when buying wedding magazines and scrolling through Pinterest. While it can be fun to day dream in all of your bridal bliss, the magazines can start to make you feel like your wedding has to be a specific way. Don’t fall into the trap! Your day will be amazing no matter what, and doesn’t have to be a replica of the cover of The Knot. Focus on your love for each other and the true meaning of your wedding day, and it will all be worth it!
How was your overall session experience?
We loved our time with Kimberly! She made us feel so comfortable and did an excellent job teaching us how to pose. By the end, we felt like total pros! My fiancé (Austin) has never been one to look forward to taking pictures, and he left our session feeling so confident and excited to see how the pictures turned out. She is truly amazing!
Share something interesting about your significant other!
Austin is a very passionate person. When he cares about something, he cares for it wholeheartedly. He is passionate about sports- I swear he knows everything there is to know about football and baseball. Austin reads about sports, watches games daily, and knows the background and stats for almost every player. He has this same passion in his relationships. Not only with me, but with his friends. He will do anything for anyone that needs help. Lastly, he has a passion for the Lord. This passion has carried him through life, and allows us to have a strong, Christ centered relationship, all because of his love and passion for God.
They are getting married at The Milestone in Aubrey in June and to say I’m excited is a serious understatement! Here are some of my favorite images from their Mitas Hill Engagement Session.
