Kayla and Austin’s Engagement at Arbor Hills

Engagement Session

March 10, 2021

It was a perfect day for Kayla and Austin’s engagement session at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. I had such a great time getting to know them and exploring Arbor Hills. I cannot wait for their wedding this summer at Oak + Ivy!

Here are some of my favorites from Kayla and Austin’s engagement session at Arbor Hills.

More About The Couple

How did you two meet?

Austin and I met at a after football game party. All of these people were wearing T-shirts with Austin‘s face on them and I was curious as to who this person was it was the celebrate cotton football game where Texas Tech celebrates West Texas farmers and so the T-shirt was a play on words since Austin‘s nickname is cotton. So he kind of just came and walked into the party and the rest is history.

What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?

What first attracted me to Austin is just that he was fun to be around and he was naturally a funny person. He was easy to talk to and easy to laugh with.

Tell us your engagement story!

We got engaged on June 28 this past summer. We were on a family vacation with my family and Galveston and the ploy was to take family pictures. The funny part about it all was that I knew that his mom‘s family was going to be coming into town but I didn’t know that he also knew that they were coming into town so it was kind of a secret that we both knew. So we’re going to take family pictures on the beach and then me and Austin kind a get together to take a picture together and it happens right on the beach in Galveston.

What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?

I am just so excited to become officially a part of each other’s families and to just have all the people that we love celebrating with us.

Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?

This is hard because I hate it when people tell me to just enjoy it because in all honesty it’s very hard to enjoy it since it is so stressful but if I had to give some advice it would be to just take it step-by-step. I am a very organized person and checklist are my jam so just being able to go though checklists checking things off so that it makes it feel like you have accomplished something no matter how big or small.

How was your overall session experience?

We love working with Kimberly she made us feel comfortable made us laugh I am really made us understand the poses so that when it comes time to work with her on the wedding day when you are kind of more in a time crunch that you’re prepared and it just made us also super comfortable to work with her on the day of

Share something interesting about your significant other!

Austin has 10 siblings and his nickname is cotton for his super blonde hair.
