I met up with these two and their adorable Golden retriever, Tucker, at Dallas White Rock Lake for their engagement session. Alex (whom I will refer to from now on as Doyle) and Alex (Keaton) brought everything I could have asked for – genuine smiles and a love for each other that is obvious when you are near them.

They brought their family to help watch Tucker when he wasn’t in the pictures. It was so nice being able to meet them prior to the wedding day (and to have the extra set of hands-on the session) It was a beautiful day, albeit a little windy. Keaton and Doyle braved the wind and the chill from the lake and they looked amazing as they did it.

Keaton and Doyle, I loved spending time with y’all during your engagement session and getting to know you and your families! I cannot WAIT for your wedding in November at The Dallas Arboretum.

About The Couple

How did you two meet?

Both of us are into fitness, so it’s fitting that we met at the gym. We were in the same group class for years, so we knew each other at a surface level before we eventually went on our first date. While we were both attracted to each other, we were both hesitant to date someone with the same name. After some convincing from friends, we eventually went on our first last date in August 2019 to Katy Trail Ice House.

What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?

I think it was a natural attraction to her because she’s in incredible shape and is gorgeous but there were intangible factors like her discipline that made her more attractive without knowing much about her. That changed after our first date when I got to know here more personally, that’s when I realized we were more compatible and thought there could really be something with her.

Of course I was physically attracted to him and I loved his confidence and how easy it was to talk to him. I also realized on our first date how funny he was and we shared a lot of the same interests.

Tell us your engagement story!

In order to send out Christmas cards, we scheduled a photographer to take our picture at Lakeside Park. We decided on that location because it’s one of the most picturesque parks in Dallas and we love going there with our dog , Tucker to walk along the water and trees.

While we were taking pictures with Tucker in front of the water, our families appeared and surprised her. Shortly after our families gathered around us, he turned and told me that he loves me more than anything in the world and dropped to one knee. While it was short in time, it is a moment we will cherish together for the rest of our lives. We celebrated our engagement with our families at Cafe Pacific in Highland Park Village, but the festivities were far from over. He had planned a surprise engagement party at one of our favorite rooftop bars on Lower Greenville. All of our friends were waiting for us to arrive so they could surprise her upon arrival. When we walked upstairs, our friends were there to celebrate the day with us and we were so happy to celebrate with them!

What has you most excited when you think about your wedding day?

I am really looking forward to our ceremony. My dad is officiating the wedding and his personal touch as well as our unique vows are going to make the day incredibly special. Thinking about our wedding day is exciting to me because we are able to profess our love for each other in front of our friends and family. Marriage is something I take very seriously because I am committing to her for the rest of my life. She has been my inspiration and support, so being at the alter with her will be rewarding for us both and further inspire me to raise my level and be the best husband I can be.

Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?

Do your research on vendors and ask friends who have already been through wedding planning for recommendations. We found our wedding planner, hair and makeup artist, florist, band, and photo booth all from friends who used and loved them.

How was your overall session experience?

Our experience with Kimberly was excellent! We took our pictures on a very windy and cold day, but she was able get creative and capture special moments without the wind blowing our hair everywhere. She is dedicated to capturing the perfect shot, but does a great job coaching you through poses along the way. Her energy and creativity inspire us to be ourselves which reflect in the pictures. We are thrilled to have her capture our wedding day too!

Share something interesting about your significant other!

She loves children, especially our two and a half year old nephew. She is always wanting to spend time with him whether it’s taking him to the park or teaching him to color or build blocks. When she’s around kids, there is a joy and love that exudes so much that it’s obvious to anyone watching. She already has a lot of pride and joy taking care of our Tucker (and me), so I know that when we have our own child, she will be an incredible Mom, guardian, and provider.

He is the most confident person I have ever met, he never worries about his ability to accomplish a task, speak to people, or give his opinion. His confidence is one of the reasons I was originally attracted to him, but as we’ve grown together I’ve come to realize his confidence has worn off on me. Because of him, I’ve become more confident in myself and he has helped push me more than I could have imagined. He also has a servants heart. He is always helping his Mom, family, friends and me; even if he is beat tired and something needs to get done, he will do it without hesitating. His selflessness is something that allows him to stand out amongst the crowd; a true man. He is going to be a great husband and Dad, and will do anything needed to provide for us. I am so thankful to have him for the rest of my life!
