Chilly Spring Engagement Session at the Dallas Arboretum | Jennifer & Michael

Engagement Session

Filed under: couples who are way too cute and totally made for each other 💕

Okay okay okay—can we just take a moment to talk about how adorable Jennifer and Michael are?! I’m still smiling thinking about their engagement session at the Dallas Arboretum. We had one of those crisp, chilly spring mornings where the sky is bright, the flowers are starting to bloom, and the air has just enough of a breeze to make you snuggle a little closer to your person—which worked out perfectly for these two. 😉

From the second we met up, Jennifer and Michael were all smiles. I could tell instantly that this session was going to be a blast. Not only are they the kind of couple who just light up around each other, but they have the best “how we met” story. Picture this: Jennifer is working in customer support, Michael’s a software developer, and the universe decides to pair them on a project. Cue Jen casually pretending she wants to learn how to code (girl, I see you!) just to spend more time in the dev office. After a few flirty work events and some seriously subtle hints, Jen finally asked Michael to come over and help change a lightbulb she “couldn’t reach”… and boom—love story activated. ✨

Fast forward through their sweet and silly journey, and now they’re planning a wedding after one heck of an engagement! They were supposed to be roughing it on a backpacking trip in Glacier National Park, but Mother Nature had other plans (hello, stormy weather 🌧️). So in true spontaneous fashion, they swapped hiking boots for flip-flops and booked a last-minute resort trip to Mexico. On their very first morning there, Michael took Jen to the beach to watch the sunrise—and then he got down on one knee. Ummm, excuse me while I cry in “destination proposal goals.” 😭🌅💍

Some standout things I learned about this fun duo:

  • Michael has a wingspan that’s longer than his height. Olympic-level hugging potential? Confirmed. 👐🏼
  • Jennifer was a spelling bee champ back in the day. So if there’s a word you don’t know how to spell at the wedding, you know who to ask. 📚✨
  • And even though they tried to convince me they’re “not interesting people”… I respectfully disagree. Y’all are delightful, quirky, and full of love, and I adored every minute of hanging out with you!

They’re both most excited for their wedding day in totally sweet and true-to-them ways—Michael can’t wait to see Jen walk down the aisle (cue the tears), and Jen is all about celebrating with her new husband and partying with their loved ones (yes girl, yes 🎉).

Their advice to other couples?

“Remember that the wedding is about you and your partner choosing each other—everything else is extra.” YES. This. 100%.

Jennifer and Michael, thank you for being your bubbly, genuine, easy to talk to selves and letting me capture this sweet season of your lives. You made my job so easy, and I already know your wedding day at Brighton Abbey is going to be filled with just as much laughter, love, and maybe a little spelling trivia. 😉

Counting down the days! 💛 Enjoy some of my favorites from Jennifer and Michael’s Chilly Spring Engagement Session at the Dallas Arboretum.
