There is a distinct magic in capturing a love story that feels both completely classic and entirely modern. When Caroline and Grant suggested a summer Hotel Drover engagement session, I knew we were in for something special.
With its rustic-meets-luxury aesthetic, rich textures, and warm, cinematic lighting, the property provided the perfect backdrop for a couple whose connection is just incredibly effortless — the kind of ease that only comes from years of history together.
A Love Story Years in the Making
Caroline and Grant’s story started at the University of Arizona during their sophomore year. Caroline was on the gymnastics team; Grant worked for the baseball team. A casual stop by his house with friends turned into a months-long friendship before Grant finally worked up the nerve to ask her on a date. Ask Caroline what first caught her eye, and she’ll tell you simply: Grant serves others well — a quiet, humble quality that’s followed him ever since.
That same thoughtfulness showed up in full force when Grant proposed. He enlisted his childhood friend and best man, Gabe, to pick Caroline up and deliver her — unknowingly — straight into the moment of her life. Grant’s little sister, Grace, met them at the entrance of the Fort Worth Botanical Garden and led Caroline through the winding paths to the exact spot Grant had chosen. Before she could catch her breath, he was already down on one knee.
The celebration continued at Caterina’s in the Stockyards, where the staff locked away their phones so the two of them could simply be present with one another — no distractions, just the two of them soaking in their new chapter. From there, they headed back to Grant’s house, where family and friends were waiting to surprise them with a celebration of their own.
It’s no wonder, then, that this engagement session at Hotel Drover — just steps from where they said “yes” to forever — felt like such a natural continuation of their story.
Sun-Drenched Courtyards & Elevated Western Vibes
For this session, we leaned into a mix of intentional, editorial framing and relaxed, documentary-style moments, spending most of our time exploring the property’s gorgeous outdoor spaces. Caroline and Grant brought the best energy to the afternoon — chic, structured style paired with a genuine ease around each other that can’t be manufactured.
While the property has so many stunning pockets, we made sure to step inside the barn for a few frames in front of the iconic Hotel Drover bar, capturing that perfect blend of high-end design and Texas charm.
From the Drover to the Stockyards
As the afternoon sun began to dip, we chased that perfect, golden Texas glow right out into the historic Stockyards. Walking the paths together, we captured some of my absolute favorite frames of the day — relaxed, romantic, and beautifully celebratory of this next chapter.
Caroline and Grant, thank you for trusting me to capture this beautiful season of your lives. I am so incredibly honored to be documenting your story, and I absolutely cannot wait to do it all over again for the wedding next fall! For now, enjoy some of my favorites from Caroline and Grant’s summer Hotel Drover engagement session!
