As a family photographer, there are certain sessions that truly tug at your heartstrings, and Lawson’s in-home newborn session was one of those moments. Stepping into Becca and Parker’s home felt like walking into a warm embrace—one that I’ve been fortunate enough to be part of for various stages of their love story. From their engagement to their wedding, the joy of their gender reveal, and now, the arrival of their sweet little cowboy, Lawson. Each time I’ve photographed them, it’s felt less like work and more like documenting the journey of dear friends.
When I arrived at their home, I was greeted by the sight of familiar faces and the wagging tail of their golden retriever, Bruiser, who seemed just as excited for the session as I was. The house was a cozy blend of love and memories, with photos from every significant moment we’ve shared together decorating the walls. Parker chuckled as he pointed to the collage in the living room, saying, “You know, you’ve practically decorated our home!” It was a moment that made my heart swell with pride and gratitude. There’s something incredibly special about seeing the milestones I’ve captured proudly displayed in their most intimate space.
The highlight of the session was undoubtedly Lawson’s cowboy-themed nursery. Every detail, from the rustic wooden accents to the rope letters of his name above the crib was absolutely perfect. But the showstopper? A miniature cowboy hat that Lawson wore in some of the photos. Seeing that little hat on his tiny head was just about the cutest thing imaginable. It was as if he was already embracing his role as the newest little cowboy in town!
We moved through the house, capturing moments that were as natural as they were beautiful—Lawson nestled in his mama’s arms, snuggles with dad, and of course, some sweet shots with Bruiser, who was ever so gentle around his new baby brother. Each room held memories, and now, they were creating new ones as a family of three (plus Bruiser, of course!).
This session was more than just photographs; it was a celebration of the beautiful life Becca and Parker have built together. Watching their love story unfold and now seeing them as parents to baby Lawson is a reminder of why I love what I do. It’s about more than just capturing images—it’s about being there for the moments that matter most, from “I do” to baby’s first days.
Thank you, Becca and Parker, for letting me continue to be part of your journey. Baby Lawson, I can’t wait to see the adventures you’ll have—especially if they involve more cowboy hats! Enjoy some of my favorites from baby Lawson’s newborn session.
