Dallas Wedding Photographer
Stephanie and Andrew’s botanical garden engagement is up on the blog and I have alllllll the heart eyes! As a result of the overcast, we enjoyed wonderful cool temperatures and plenty of fun locations to use at the Dallas Arboretum that normally are in full sun! I’m thankful that these two trusted me not only to capture their engagement session but that they are trusting me to capture their wedding day this summer at Morgan Creek Barn!
It’s such an honor and I do not take this responsibility lightly. I love meeting these two and I can’t wait to see them again in just a few months for their wedding!!! Enjoy my favorites from their super fun botanical garden engagement.
More About The Couple
How did you two meet?
Andrew had moved to Houston for work, and I had moved there for dental school. Andrew and I had known of each other for a while, thanks to Instagram and a small circle of people at Houston’s First Baptist Church. Each Tuesday night at HFBC, The Porch, a young singles ministry, would stream from the Watermark Church in Dallas, and Andrew and I often attended.
Andrew says he noticed me one of these Tuesdays across the room and waited a couple of weeks to build up courage to come talk to me. On one fateful Tuesday, as I was waking with a friend, Andrew lumbered over to me, and introduced himself in person! He fumbled over his words a bit, but I thought he was so charming and handsome. Three days later, we had our first date – and Andrew waited for me thirty long minutes!! He said it was worth the wait, and I’m so glad!!
What was it about your significant other that first attracted you to them?
I knew Andrew was leading a young adult’s group at HFBC, and I was attracted to his love for God and ability to capture a room with his presence. Also, I thought he was pretty dang cute. Andrew says he thought I was a beautiful woman with a contagious smile and could tell I had a genuine heart seeking the lord that listened and tried to love others well.
Tell us your engagement story!
When I got accepted to a residency program in Memphis, we were so blessed that Andrew was able to work remotely from his job and come visit frequently. After a year of intentional dating, Andrew felt like he couldn’t live without me and knew that he wanted to propose. He tried to throw me off the scent a lot, and once we had talked about getting engaged and married, he had me get my nails done and would start dressing nice whenever we would go out, very uncommon for Andrew.
One morning Andrew told me we were going to go to lunch and go out on the town for that evening, and he even had me make a reservation for dinner! When we arrived at our lunch spot, right in front of the Mississippi river, Andrew told me there was a wait, and we decided to take a walk along the Mississippi, something that we often enjoy doing. Unbeknownst to me, he had this all planned out. He led me towards a gazebo, turned towards me and got down on one knee. He asked me to marry him, but I don’t remember much else he said. I was so excited to say yes to the love of my life!!
